Shoba Poduval
Project Lead
Shoba is an NHS GP in north London and National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Academic Clinical Lecturer (post-doctoral researcher) at UCL. Shoba’s research interests include the design and evaluation of programmes to improve the health of ethnic minority and low-income communities, with a particular interest in digital health and long-term conditions. Shoba is also interested in innovative ways of centring voices of marginalised communities and using creative arts-based methods to conduct and share research.
Chandrika Kaviraj
Research advisor (Lived experience/Public and Patient Involvement representative)
Chandrika is a carer for two elderly parents with long term conditions. She is passionate about making stroke and stroke rehabilitation care better, with a long-term goal of pushing social care higher up the agenda and giving a voice to those who don't feel able to do so. Chandrika believes that by creating meaningful change we can empower those who work in and use the NHS - helping it go from strength to strength. She is passionate about good communication and compassion, believing they could be the key drivers to fruitful partnerships or full-blown conflicts and therefore are hugely important.

Amin Islam
Research advisor (Lived experience/Public and Patient Involvement representative)
Amin has delved into the realm of public health with a particular focus on the vaccine hesitancy research project. His passions lie in addressing health inequalities through dedicated research and fostering patient public engagement. This commitment reflects his unwavering pursuit to contribute positively to healthcare outcomes for all.

Tamoy Thorpe
Graphic Designer
Tamoy Thorpe is a freelance illustrator/graphic logo designer, who currently works in the digital and pad printing industry. He has a BA HONS in Illustration from the UAL site: London College of communication, obtained in 2018.
Tamoy's work is influenced by his experiences in the textiles industry, first as a screen printer, then moving on to the modern technologies of print, like 3-D and Pad printing, which he plans on showcasing in his 2020-2024 portfolio. As for his tool preference, he mainly works with pens and Adobe Illustrator/ After Effects, ideal for graphic design.
Tamoy works with these tools to create more volume in his image-making, as well as achieve more deliberate, fluid lines/curves when creating illustrations.

Ciáran Christopher
Print Media Artist
Ciáran Christopher is a freelance photographer and art director with a background in magazine publishing. Their work encourages playful interactions through physical expression. Using design and visual mediums such as photography, print and digital media. With a sensitive and authentic curiosity, their work aims to facilitate space for conversations to be held and narratives and experiences to be shared and explored.

Divya Balain
Student Intern
Divya is a final year Msci Human Sciences and Evolution student at UCL, helping with website design and communication of ‘Diverse Voices’ research findings.
She is interested in researching healthcare inequalities from a range of levels: biological, socio-cultural and structural. She is particularly interested in healthcare inequalities of ethnic minorities related to PCOS, diabetes and endometriosis.

Sophie Ka Ling Lau
Student Intern
Sophie is a Master’s student in Human-Computer Interaction at UCL having completed her Psychology with Criminology undergraduate at Loughborough University. She aided in the creation of the Diverse Voices website and subsequent promotional collateral.
She is interested in UX design and research in creating usable and functional technological experiences for its users while exploring innovative new ways to achieve this.
